Army substance abuse programs offer help with guidance and support.

Army substance abuse programs are responsible for providing guidance and support for various alcohol and drug addictions to help members of the Military to overcome addiction. Soldiers, commanders, Army personnel and members of the Army community can seek help from an Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). The mission of Army Substance Abuse Programs is to “strengthen the overall fitness and effectiveness of the Army’s workforce, to conserve manpower and enhance the combat readiness of Soldiers.”

Objectives of the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP)

The Army substance abuse program seeks to fulfill it’s mission by increasing the fitness and unit readiness of Soldiers and members of the Army community. The Army Substance Abuse Program provides services that are geared towards the workforce of the Army and have a strong emphasis on the deterrence of alcohol and drug abuse as well as the prevention, education and rehabilitation of those suffering from a substance abuse problem.

Once a Soldier has completed an Army Substance Abuse Program they are restored to duty if they have the ability to continue to provide military services. The Army Substance Abuse Program aims to provide effective substance abuse prevention and education to every level of the military in an effort to achieve maximum productivity and reduce the absenteeism among civilian corps members. ASAP seeks to improve the readiness of all members by offering the services to Soldiers, civilian corps members and the family members of those involved.

How Army Substance Abuse Programs Help

Army substance abuse programs help Soldiers and those members of the armed forces who are either directly involved in the Army or the family members of those involved to overcome addiction. Many of the programs that are provided as part of the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) are aimed at substance abuse prevention in an effort to decrease the level of substance abuse within the Army community. In fact, part of the ASAP objectives is to provide access to drug and alcohol free leisure activities for members.

For those who are suffering from addiction, the Army Substance Abuse Program provides counseling and therapy to assist with the recovery process. Army substance abuse programs provide support and education to help decrease the negative attitudes that surround substance abuse and to encourage Soldiers to support their fellow Soldiers and family members or friends who may be suffering from a substance abuse problem. If you or someone you love is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is a member of the Army community, consider getting help from the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP).
